Shalane Flanagan lined up last Monday on the Boston start line to kick off 26.2 miles of downpours, headwinds and a windchill near freezing. Those conditions wouldn’t stop her from completing the race for a strong 7th place finish.
She showed true grit and determination, competing in what she called, “the most brutal conditions I’ve ever run in.”
“I definitely had moments of struggle,” she told us about the race. “Kind of ebbs and flows, and moments of doubts, but I just had to focus on ‘one foot in front of another’.”
She said the amazing Boston fans kept her going, and overall she was proud to have competed. “I had a hard time, but I’m so happy I finished,” she said.
