Run your way into holiday cheer!

In the midst of the holiday frenzy—parties and shopping, family dinners and friendly outings—it can be easy to let training and competition wait for 2018’s resolution list. Thankfully, organizations and cities across the country hear your struggle (and sense your end-of-year philanthropic cheer) and have scheduled some pretty great races throughout the holiday season. Some encourage dressing up while others offer beautifully decorated routes. Whether it’s a fun run, a 5k, or a longer race, these events will keep you in the spirit and in those they fit just right pants. Find a race near you and sign up today. Here are a few suggestions:

  • Holiday Hustle 5k, Kailua, HI – If you are spending part of your holiday season soaking up some island life, make sure you pack your ugly holiday sweater, some tinsel, and an elf hat or two. This event includes an award for most festively decorated runner! The best contest? The race rules say no watches or GPS devices. There is a prize for the racer who guesses closest to his or her race time!
  • Reindeer Run 5k Road Race, Beverly, MA – Cross over to the U.S. Mainland and head to the other coast, and you’ll find Beverly, MA for what promises to be a slightly colder but equally fun holiday run. Yes, there is a contest for best costume! But, best of all, you will cross the finish line to find Santa and his elves eagerly awaiting your arrival!
  • Atlanta Christmas 5k, Atlanta, GA – Tis the season when your registration includes a bib, a shirt, and a Santa hat! Sport your hat as you race through the beautiful residential areas and the bustling shops of the Virginia Highlands neighborhood. The decorations will be on point to get you in the mood for holiday cheer, which will be perfect for the party waiting for you just beyond the finish line!
  • Resolution 2018, Redmond, WA – So, you didn’t get in those extra holiday runs? Maybe you indulged in one too many desserts? Or had one too many glasses of cheer at the holiday party and wound up on HR’s radar? This race is right up your alley. The first week of January, 2018, this race is an intimate competition (only 130 slots!), racing along the Sammamish River Trail. The race ends with a fitness challenge at Serious About Fitness. Then it really ends with your admission to the HiFi Brewery Taproom for the event chili feed (post-rate recovery included). Not a bad way to start the year!
